Convenience store owners and lottery players alike are anxious about the potential impact of Illinois' ongoing budget impasse.

The multi-state lottery association overseeing Powerball and Mega Millions games will dump IL by the end of June if the state doesn't end its budget impasse.

Lottery players in IL may only have a couple weeks left to enter for their chance to strike it rich.

"Customers want a one-stop shop, and if we can't offer Powerball and Mega Millions, they're going to go elsewhere", he said.

The winning tickets were both purchased at the Food Lion, number 2112, on S.C. 9 in Longs for last Saturday's $447 million Powerball jackpot drawing.

The Powerball and Mega Millions lottery games could be another casualty of Illinois' budget impasse. The Little River victor missed the jackpot prize by one number, but was thrilled to win $200,000 from a number combination he said he's played for years.

Mr. Daniels and Mr. McKenna also spoke about the repercussions losing Powerball and Mega Millions would have outside of their stores.

Lottery revenue in IL goes towards education funding in the state.

He says the budget stalemate that's now threatening to stretch into its third year is merely representative of the political and social problems that plague the state.

The Sun-Times says a cancellation could impact millions in sales, including $99.4 in Mega Millions and $204 million for Powerball.

And forty percent of each comes back in state revenue. "Matters involving the Illinois Lottery should be directed to Illinois officials".
