Authorities probe video of cops allegedly kicking bystander

The review comes as a video obtained by Univision shows police kicking at a man and dragging him into the roadway in the moments after the crash. In the video, Roberto is heard yelling, "Help him out, help him out!" according to a report by CBS New York.

But the video may be misleading, according to the president of the Jersey City Police Officers Benevolent Association.

"Where appropriate, there could, and probably would be criminal charges", Mayor Steven Fulop said.

A hospital spokeswoman says a man seen on video being kicked by New Jersey police officers after a chase involving a different man is in critical condition with burns.

Newly released video of the fiery crash that ended a police pursuit on Sunday night seems to show police kicking a man outside of a flaming auto - a man the prosecutor's office has identified as an innocent victim.

The cops were chasing a suspect, Leo Pinkston, whom they fired shots at, notes The Jersey Journal.

Several blocks later, Pinkston crashed into a utility pole, causing a fire "and injuring an innocent male victim", also driving on the same road, the prosecutor's office said.

The driver police were pursuing has been identified as 48-year-old Leo Pinkston, and he crashed his vehicle into a utility pole while trying to elude cops after fleeing from a traffic stop.

"They didn't help him, they just started kicking him and grabbing him", Roberto said. In the video, the first officer goes up and kicks Miguel, knocking him down.

The officers had been pursuing another man, Leo Pinkston, who drove off during a traffic stop on Ocean and Cator Aves., police said.

"I don't think they treated him the right way, and that's not how you treat any human in this world".

City officials are working with prosecutors to identify the officers in the video and will seek the termination of the officers responsible "in addition to any possible criminal penalties in appropriate cases", added Morrill.

"Taking swift action isn't always elegant, but this video clearly shows that the officers acted quickly to extinguish the flames, and pull this man out of harm's way", he told PIX11 in a statement on Wednesday.

"When I saw the images of my son being massacred, it was indescribable". Pinkston is being charged with aggravated assault and fleeing police. "He was just leaving home for work", Mr Felix said. The vehicle fled, and was pursued by officers, the prosecutor's office said.

But what happened next has Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop calling for the termination of the officers who responded to the scene. "The entire pursuit that was previous to that fiery crash had questionable judgment calls from the officers, from the shootings to continuing to pursue the vehicle".
