Cong booklet labels Kashmir as 'Indian occupied Kashmir'; BJP demands apology

On page 12 of the 16-page booklet showed the entire state of J&K labelled as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". Attacking the party for the mistake, the BJP said it must have gladdened the heart of its "patrons in Pakistan".

The Uttar Pradesh Congress unit raked controversy after a booklet released by the party on the years of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government rule shows Kashmir as "Indian Occupied Kashmir".

On June 3, the Congress published and distributed a booklet titled 'Rashtriya Suraksha Par Aanch ', in which Jammu and Kashmir has been erroneously shown to be a part of Pakistan.

He said that the release of the booklet by Congress leader Gulam Nabi Azad, who is former CM of Jammu and Kashmir is a planned strategy by the party to support the anti-national elements in the Kashmir valley. In 2014, the BJP displayed the map with same error in their website.

This was not the first instance of showing the wrong map of India.

Maken also said that unlike BJP, Congress is capable of admitting its mistake.

"Before raising questions, they should respond to publication of such maps", he said.

UP BJP leader Rakesh Tripathi said, "While the Congress was registering its opposition for Bha Ja Pa (BJP), it has now started opposing Bharat (India), too". "There is no sense in four people giving different statements".

He quoted instances of beheading of Indian soldiers by Pakistan and said Modi had made beheading of soldiers a big issue during his poll campaign.

"Kashmir is the integral part of India and the PoK (Pak occupied Kashmir) is also integral part of India".

He noted that the Congress had recently asked the central government to come out with a final solution over Kashmir.

In UN's page on non-governmental organisations (NGOs) - more precisely, in the "Advanced search for Civil Society Organization" section - Jammu and Kashmir has been inserted in the "Country / Geographical area" section, media reports said.

The BJP condemned the gaffe and demanded an apology from the party.

"Border dispute with Pakistan and terrorism in Kashmir is a gift of the Congress".

"The Congress party for the last three years has been indulging in politicising the internal security and the national security. Our Prime Minister went to visit the Pakistani PM uninvited", said Azad, the Congress' UP in charge.

"This categorically makes it clear that the language of the Congress and Pakistan is the same".

The booklet was printed and released by the All India Congress Committee.

Twitterati, too, was in no mood to spare the Congress.
