Actor Arrested in Heroine's Kidnap Case!

Kochi, July11:Malayalam actor Dileep was on Tuesday sent to 14 days judicial custody after being arrested in connection with alleged abduction and assault of a South Indian actress.

The police had earlier found that the prime accused in the case Pulsar Suni had contacted Dileep's friend and film maker Nadirshah over phone from the jail at least three times. He seemed all confident to prove his "innocence" as he always claimed even after the marathon questioning at the police club which had lasted for 13 hours.

Noted lawyer, K Ramkumar of Kerala High Court, who appeared for Dileep just hours after his arrest has already said that the actor was framed in actress attack case.

The arrest was confirmed by the DGP, and said the arrest was made following solid evidence against the actor, which by all means shocked the Malayalam film industry, as they all stood behind the actor protecting him.

The sensational arrests took place almost four months after the young actor was waylaid and brutalised by a gang in a moving vehicle in Kochi on Feb.17. State Police Chief Loknath Behera confirms the Kerala actor Dileep arrest after the second round of investigation. Young actors, including Prithviraj and Asif Ali, had threatened to quit AMMA if the association had failed to take a decision against Dileep.

This come as a huge setback to the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes Association (AMMA) who had been supporting Dileep in the matter.

Following Dileep's arrest on Monday, the protesters told the two MLAs that their support for him makes a mockery of justice. His involvement and arrest by the police were expected, though.

NWC member Sushma Sahu also criticised Innocent over his "anti-women" remarks and said they were "shameful". Actor Nadrishah is also being interrogated in the case.

On February 17, Kumar allegedly intercepted the auto in which the actress was travelling in Kochi, assaulted her inside the vehicle for around two hours and recorded visuals of the act on a mobile phone. And, according to them, the conspiracy to target the actress was allegedly hatched in 2013, the year Dileep filed a divorce petition in a family court.
