Missing pregnant woman's body found wrapped in plastic, floating in river

Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, who had been missing since earlier this month, was discovered in the Red River near Harwood just before 6 p.m., Fargo Police Chief David Todd announced during a news conference, CBS News reports.

Greywind was eight months pregnant when she disappeared over a week ago.

The Cass County State's Attorney says he plans to file Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping and False Information charges against two people already arrested in connection with the disappearance of Savanna Greywind.

This is a breaking news story and we will post updates when we get them.

Her neighbors, 38-year-old Brooke Crews and 32 year-old William Hoehn, are facing charges that include conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Hoehn and Crews allegedly gave police information that led them to believe the baby is LaFontaine-Greywind's child but are not answering questions about the young woman's whereabouts, police said at the time.

Greywind, a nursing assistant at a senior care facility, was last seen at the apartment of Crews and Hoehn, where she had gone to help with a sewing project.

They found her body bound in plastic bags and duct tape stuck on a tree in the river. However, they couldn't tell police where Greywind was. Todd says law enforcement began focusing their search on that farmstead after some "suspicious items" were found there, but he declined to reveal what those items were.

Fargo Police Chief David Todd thanked search volunteers and extended "our honest condolences" to Greywind's family. Authorities said the unoccupied farm, which the couple didn't own, had been abandoned for probably 20 to 30 years and the owner is now cooperating with police. When she traveled to the address, her baby was taken. There was no indication of LaFontaine-Greywind or a child during those three searches, Nelson said.

The body of a missing pregnant woman has been found in North Dakota.

'It's shocking because I knew her as a childhood friend, ' said Jewel Azure, who'd volunteered in the search of the missing woman. 'It's so sad.

'They said it's healthy, but they're running more tests, ' Ashton Matheny said Thursday.

The Fargo case would be significantly different in one way, however-the man. Hoehn was arrested for kidnapping, the same as Crews, indicating his participation in the alleged crime.
