English wonderkid signs for Borussia Dortmund and takes Ousmane Dembele's squad number

The 17-year-old England youth worldwide was regarded as one of City's brightest talents.

A host of clubs had been interested in signing the 17-year-old, including Premier League sides Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham, but City never had any intention of selling to an English rival.

Sancho, regarded as one of the club's brightest young prospects alongside Phil Foden and Brahim Díaz, was excluded from Man City's pre-season tour of the United States after indicating he wanted to leave.

City successfully fought off interest from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, and were able to sell Sancho overseas as they wanted.

He could get more game-time at Dortmund, with Sancho taking the number seven shirt vacated by Ousmane Dembele following his initial €105million transfer to Barcelona.

Some reports suggest the deal might be worth in the region of €9m, with City also standing to benefit from a sell-on clause.

The attacking midfielder was chosen as player of the tournament as the UEFA Under-17 European Championship in May, contributing at least a goal or an assist every game as England finished runners-up to Spain.
